SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

Chapter 96.
AN ACT to amend the act of eighteen hundred
and sixty-seven, chapter two hundred and
ninety, entitled "An act to add a new article
to the Code of Public General Laws, to be en-
titled 'Public Roads,' " so far as the same re-
lates to Somerset county, and to re-enact the
following in lieu thereof :

sembly of Maryland, That the act of eighteen
hundred and sixty-seven, chapter two hundred
and ninety, entitled "An act to add a new arti-
cle to the Code of Public General Laws, to be
entitled 'Public Roads, '" so far as the same
relates to Somerset county, be and the same is
hereby repealed.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the county

commissioners of Somerset county shall appoint
one supervisor of roads for each of the election
districts of the said county, who shall hold his
office for two years, or until his successor is duly
appointed and qualified, and shall be subject to
removal by the said commissioners for incompe-
tency, wilful neglect of duty or misdemeanor in
office.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That it shall be the
duty of each road supervisor to cause all public
roads in his district to be kept cleared, smooth,
and in good repair, with good and sufficient
bridges and underdrains where required, and to
keep the same in good repair.
