tions under the laws of this State; and it shall be the duty of said
sheriff and the County Commissioners to make all necessary pro-
visions for the carrying out of the requirements of this act, so
that said election shall be fairly held; and if it shall be found
by the said Clerk of the Circuit Court, to whom such returns
shall be made, that a majority of the votes cast at said election
are for the adoption of said act, the said clerk shall, within ten
days thereafter, make proclamation of the result, and publish
the same in all the newspapers then published in Somerset
county, giving notice of the adoption of the law, and warning
all persons interested therein that its provisions will be en-
forced by the officers of county and State; and the County
Commissioners of Si 'merset county are hereby authorized and
required to provide for the payment of the expenses necessary
to carry out the provisions of this act, regarding its submission
to the vote of the people as aforesaid; which act shall go into
effect and become law, from after said fifteenth day of March,
eighteen hundred and ninety-five, and not otherwise.

CHAPTER 593.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments section
162, of Article 27, of the Code of Public General Laws,
title "Crimes and Punishments," sub-title "Larceny."

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That section one hundred and sixty-two, of article
twenty-seven, of the Code of Public General Laws, title
"Crimes and Punishments," sub-title "Larceny," be and the
same is hereby repealed and re enacted with amendments, so
as to read as follows :

Repeal.

162. Any person who shall be entrusted with any goods,
wares, materials or merchandise, or who shall receive or obtain
such goods, materials or other property from the owner thereof,
for the purpose of manufacturing, working up or converting
the same into garments, wearing apparel or other articles of
merchandise, or of altering the same or completing the manu-
facture thereof, after the same may have been returned to the
said owner in an unsatisfactory condition, and shall after
receiving the same, fraudulently sell, pawn, pledge or in any
