FRANK BROWN, ESQUIRE, GOVERNOR.

State Treasurer of Maryland of all the State taxes levied
and placed in his hands for collection, and the faithful
performance of all other duties devolving upon him as the
collector of the State taxes; and the other for double the
amount of county taxes to be collected, conditioned for
the proper collection and disbursements of all taxes levied
and placed in his hands for collection for Somerset county,
and the faithful performance of all other duties devolv-
ing upon him as treasurer and collector for Somerset
county; the said bonds, after executed and approved as afore-
said, to be filed and recorded in the office of the Clerk of the
Circuit Court for Somerset county; and the County Commis-
sioners of Somerset county are hereby authorized to accept,
as surety on such bonds, some safe and reliable insurance,
guarantee or trust company of the State of Maryland, if such
be offered, and to pay for such suretyship out of any unappro-
priated moneys belonging to Somerset county, which may be
in hand, such sum or sums as may be necessary to secure the
same.

SEC. 215. And be it enacted, That it shall be the duty of
the treasurer and collector, each year, as soon as the annual
levy is made, to give public notice thereof by advertisement
in at least two newspapers published in Somerset county, and
the taxes so levied shall be due and payable on the first day of

October of the year in which they are so levied; and it shall
be the duty of the said treasurer and collector, in the month of
October in each year, to sit for two days at the principal town,
and if no town, then at the principal or some convenient place
of public resort in each election district in said county, and in
the months of November and December, one day in each of
said election districts as aforesaid, for the purpose of receiving
taxes; due notice of each of said sittings shall be given by
advertisements as hereinbefore directed; and he shall report to
the County Commissioners, at their first regular meeting in
each month, the amount of taxes, State and county, separately,
collected by him up to the date of such report, and the amount

he shall deposit at least once a week in the savings bank of
Somerset county or some other safe and reliable banking
institution, all taxes received or collected by him up to
the date of such deposit, the portion due to the State to
