CHAPTER 564.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments, Sections
100, 101 and 103 of Article 19 of the Code of Public
Local Laws, title "St. Mary's County," sub-title "Roads,"
and to add certain new Sections to said Article, to follow
immediately after Section 103, and to be known as Sections
103 A, 103 B, 103 C, 103 D, 103 E and 103 F.

Repeal.
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That sections 100, 101 and 103 of article 19 of
the Code of Public Local Laws, title "St. Mary's County,"
sub-title "Roads," be and the same are hereby repealed and
re-enacted, and that certain new sections be and the same are

New sections

hereby added to said articles, to follow section 103, and to be
numbered as sections 103, 103 A, 103 B, 103 C, 103 D, 103 E and
103 F, and to read as to said re enactment and said new sec-
tions as follows :

|
General and
district road
supervisors.
|
100. The County Commissioners of St. Mary's county,
immediately after the passage of this act, or at their first meet-
ing in April, eighteen hundred and ninety-four, and thereafter
annually at their first meeting in April of every year, appoint
one general road supervisor for said county, and one. district
road supervisor for each election district of said county, except
the third election district, where they shall appoint two district
supervisors.) The said general and district road supervisors

Compensa-
tion.
|
shall receive such compensation for their services, by way of
salary or per diem, as the said commissioners shall, in their dis-
cretion, at said meeting fix, and such compensation shall not be
increased or diminished for the term of one year. The said

|
Duties.
|
commissioners shall at the same time fix the compensation to
be paid to laborers on the public roads. It shall be the duty
of the general supervisor and he is hereby required to ride
over the public roads of each district at least once in every
month during the season in which they are to be worked, and
to advise with and direct, as far as practicable, how, when and
where the work on said roads shall be done. The said district
road supervisors shall, subject to the advice of the general
supervisor, have exclusive control over all of their respective
laborers, teams and so forth, during the time they are at work
on said roads, and each district road supervisor is authorized to
employ not more than six laborers, and in no case shall any
such supervisor employ less than three, when at work on said
