Election of
commis-
sioners.
|
twelve months in the State, next preceding the election, and
owners of real estate within the corporate limits of said town,
who are residents and legally qualified voters of Somerset
county, shall elect by ballot on the first Monday in June, 1896,
and in every two years thereafter, at said house as shall be
designated by the president and commissioners by a notice to
he put up in at least five of the most public places in said town,
at least one week before the day of election, three judicious and
discreet persons, citizens of the town of Princess Anne, who
shall have resided within the limits of said town for at least
twelve months preceding the election, as commissioners of said
town; the persons thus elected as commissioners shall, within

one month after their election, qualify by taking the oath pre-
scribed by the sixth section of the first article of the Constitu-
tion of Maryland, before the clerk of the Circuit Court for
Somerset county; and at their first meeting, which shall be
within one month after the election, they shall choose from
their own body a president, who shall preside at all meetings
of the commissioners and vote on all questions before them.
The commissioners now in office shall serve until the first
Monday in June, eighteen hundred and ninety-six, and their
successors shall serve for a term of two years respectively as
above provided.

Vacancies.
|
SEC. 199. If any of said commissioners, after they are
elected, shall refuse to qualify, or shall, after they have quali-
fied, die, resign, remove from said town or be otherwise dis-
qualified, an election to fill such vacancy shall be held after
two weeks' previous notice, to be put up as aforesaid by said
president and commissioners, by hand bills, written or printed,
and posted at three public places in said town.

Failure to
hold election
|
SEC. 200. If the inhabitants of said town shall at any time
neglect to make an election at the time mentioned, the power
of electing commissioners shall not cease, but the right and
power of said inhabitants in that respect shall continue, and
the president and commissioners for the time being shall con-
tinue in office until such election shall be held.

Limits of
Princess
Anne.
|
SEC. 201. The limits of the town of Princess Anne shall be
as follows : Beginning on the westerly side of Green street,
at the middle of the ditch between the lands of H. Filltnore
Lankford and William Nutter; thence running by and with
the middle of said ditch south 75° 40' west to the point where
this line intersects the tenth line mentioned in the return
made by Levin Handy, Littleton Long, Sr., and Nathaniel
