FRANK BROWN, ESQUIRE, GOVERNOR.

SEC. 2. Said Great Falls Power Company is hereby author-
ized to purchase, acquire and hold lands in one or more tracts
in the State of Maryland, not exceeding two thousand acres.

SEC. 3. Said corporation is hereby authorized and empowered

to lay, construct and build lines or conductors under, along,
upon or over the streets, squares, lanes, alleys and roads, paved
or unpaved, in the county of Montgomery and Prince George's
county, and connect the same with any manufactory, public or
private buildings, lamps or other structures or objects, and
with the place of supply, and also with any line or lines
authorized to be erected in the District of Columbia, subject,
however, to any law or ordinances that may be passed by the
municipal authorities of the city, towns or County Commis-
sioners having jurisdiction, for the filling up, repairing or
restoring such streets or roads to their normal condition.

SEC. 4. This act shall take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 541.

AN ACT to authorize the Governor to appoint special police-
men, upon application of the board of directors of the
Friendly Inn of Baltimore City.

Effective.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the Governor be and he is hereby authorized
and empowered, upon application by the board of directors of
the Friendly Inn of Baltimore City, to appoint and duly com-
mission such person or persons as the said board of directors
may designate, to act as policemen for the protection of the
property of the said Friendly Inn of Baltimore City and its
branches, and for the preservation of peace and good order on
the premises of the said corporation, and the enforcement of
its rules and regulations to that end.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the person or
persons so appointed shall be commissioned and shall qualify,
and shall have all the authority, powers and duties prescribed
and conferred by section 289 to 293, both inclusive, of article
23 of the Code of Public General Laws of Maryland, upon
policemen appointed under section 288 of said article.
