and on conviction thereof, upon presentment or indictment in
the Circuit Court for Dorchester county, or upon conviction
thereof before any justice of the peace in and for said county,
upon conviction thereof in said Circuit Court in cases removed

Penalty.

from before a justice of the peace for trial therein, such
persons shall be fined not less than one dollar nor more than
twenty dollars, and shall be adjudged to pay the cost of the
prosecution, and shall stand committed ten days, unless fine
and costs are sooner paid. Any person convicted under this
sub-section, unless he pay the tine and costs imposed upon him
by the judgments of the court or justice, shall be placed by
the sheriff or his deputy in a separate part of the "jail and fed
on biead and water; and the sheriff shall receive one-third less
for hoarding or feeding this class of persons than is now or
may hereafter be allowed and paid for other prisoners.

Disposition of
fines.

SUB-SEC. B. All fines imposed under sub-section A and
all fines imposed by the Circuit Court for said county, or by
any justice of the peace for any misdemeanor committed with-
in the corporate limits of Cambridge, in any case where the
information on oath was laid by the bailiff or any policeman in
the service of said town, or in any case where the arrest is
made by such bailiff, deputy bailiff or any policeman thereof,
shall belong and be paid to the Commissioners of Cambridge;
the said commissioners shall also be entitled to all fines
imposed for the violation of the town ordinances. The pro-
visions of sub-section A and of this sub section shall prevail
and take effect within the corporate limits of Cambridge, any
law to the contrary notwithstanding.

Effective.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted. That this act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 539.

AN ACT to pay Isaac M. Fisher, late collector of State taxes
for Frederick County, for years 1890 and 1891, a sum of
money for State taxes paid by him into the treasury
erroneously.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
