New sections,

and swine from running; at large in the village of Johnsville,
in Frederick county, Maryland, be and the same arc hereby
added to article eleven of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland, title ''Frederick County," sub-title "Swine and
Geese," to follow section 449, and to be designated sections
449 A and 449 B.

Cattle run-
ning at large.
|
SEC. 449 A. It shall not be lawful for any person to allow
his or her cattle or swine to run at large or be herded upon
that portion of the turnpike road leading from the town of
Liberty, in Frederick county, Maryland, to the town of Union
Bridge, in Carroll county, in said State, which passes through
said village of Johnsville, constituting the main street, and
extending from the intersection of Blessings lane with said
turnpike road at the southern end of said Johnsville to the

Penalty.

Methodist Protestant Church at the northern end of said
Johnsville, under a penalty of fifty cents for each and every
of such cattle or swine found running at large or herded
within said limits, which fine, together with the costs of pro-
ceedings to impose the same, shall be imposed upon the owner
of such cattle or swine by any justice of the peace of said
county in and for Johnsville district of said county, upon
complaint of any person aggrieved or information by any con-
stable of said county for said district, be collected as other fines
and penalties.

Duty of
constables.
|
SEC. 449 B. And it shall be the duty of the county constable
for said Johnsville district to enforce the provisions of the fore-
going section to prevent cattle and swine from running at
large or to be herded in said limits, and to this end they are
hereby authorized and empowered to impound any such cattle
or swine so running at large or herded, make information to
said justice of this peace, and to receive twenty-five cents per
day for each head of cattle or swine while so impounded,
which shall be included in the costs of the proceedings, to be
assessed by said justice of the peace in imposing the prescribed
penalties.
