persons may be licensed to sell spirituous or fermented liquors
within the limits of the town of Cambridge, in Dorchester
county, shall be submitted to the qualified voters of said town,
as qualified by law to vote at the municipal elections thereof,
on the fourth Tuesday in May next, which election shall be
held at the court house in said town, between the hours of eight
o'clock A.. M. and six o'clock P. M., during which time the polls
shall be kept open by the judges of election.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the town commissioners
of said town shall and they are hereby directed to give notice
of said election, by advertisement inserted once in each of
three successive weeks prior to the day of election, in the Cam-
bridge Chronicle, The Democrat and News, and the Dorches-

prior to said election, appoint three judges thereof, who shall
in turn, prior to or on the day of election, appoint two clerks
of election, and hold the election as herein provided, the said
judges and clerks of election first qualifying themselves to act

as now provided by law.

that the ballots so cast shall be carefully counted by the said
judges of election, and that said judges shall make a return

appears that a majority of the ballots so cast shall contain the
words " For the sale of Spirituous or Fermented Liquors,"
written or printed upon them, then the said commissioner
shall forthwith make proclamation of the result of the elec-
tion, by advertisement thereof, at least once in each of the
newspapers aforesaid; and on and after the second day of
July next, it shall be lawful for all persons to sell spirituous or
fermented liquors within the limits of said town, under the
restrictions and provisions hereinafter contained; and sections
207 to 213, inclusive, of article 10, Code of Public Local
Laws, shall be and they are hereby repealed so far as the
limits of said town of Cambridge may be affected thereby.

any person or persons to sell spirituous or fermented liquors in
the said town of Cambridge, until he or they shall first comply
