CHAPTER 475.

AN ACT supplementary to Chapter 239 of the Acts of
Assembly of 1878, entitled "An Act for the relief of
Western Maryland College."

SECTION 1. Be it enacted ly the General Assembly of

Maryland, That the following section, to be known as section
2 A, supplementary to the Act of 1878, chapter 239, entitled
"An Act for the relief of Western Maryland College," be and
the same is hereby enacted so as to read as follows, chapter 239
of the Acts of 1878, supplementary.

New section.

SEC. 2 A. Whenever a student who has received an appoint-
ment from one of the State senatorial districts, as hereinbefore
provided, and has attended well and faithfully to his studies
and duties as such student, shall, on account of absence from
said college, by reason of ill health, fail to complete the
course of studies necessary to entitle him or her to graduation
from said college, and the facts in such case shall be fully
within the knowledge of the faculty of said college, the said
faculty is hereby, in their discretion and good judgment, with
a due regard to the rights of other applicants from such
senatorial district, authorized and empowered to extend the
time of the collegiate course of such student in said college,
who has been thus disabled on account of ill health, for the
period of one year, and no longer, over and above the term of
four years, as hereinbefore provided.

SEC. 2. And le it enacted, That this act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

Approved April 6th, 1894.

CHAPTER 476.

AN ACT to authorize the County Commissioners of Anne
Arundel County to provide for the payment of the perma-
nent improvements of public roads in the fifth election
district of said county, for which said district is now indebted.


WHEREAS, The expenditure for the permanent improve-
ments of the public roads in the fifth election district of Anne
Arundel county have exceeded the amount that the County
