and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted with amend-
ments, so as to read as follows :
|
Repeal.
|
|
|
259. All persons bidding for said collections shall, at the
time of so doing, file with said commissioners a good and suf-
ficient bond for the respective district for which such person
may have bid for the collection of such taxes; said bond shall
be, as to the condition thereof, in accordance with the provi-
sions of article 81 of the Code of Public General Laws, title
"Revenue and Taxes," and in a penalty equal to the amount of
tax to be collected by him; and said collector, when appointed,
in accordance with the provisions of this article, shall, after

giving public notice of the time and place thereof, sit at each
of the voting places in their respective collection districts, not
less than one day in each week, from nine o'clock A. M. until
three o'clock p. M., during the months of September, October,
November and December of each year, for the purpose of
receiving taxes; and all persons and incorporated institutions
that shall pay the county tax in September of the year for

which they were levied, shall be entitled to a deduction of five
per centum on the amount of said taxes; all that shall pay the
same in October of the. said year shall bo entitled to a deduction
of four per centum; all that pay the same in November of
said year shall be entitled to a deduction of three per centum,
and all that pay the same in December of said year, shall be
entitled to a deduction of two per centum; and at the time of
receiving said taxes, the collector shall make the deduction
aforesaid, and note the same upon the receipts given to the
person or the incorporated institution so paying; and in order
to obtain credits for the discounts herein allowed, the collectors
shall report to the County Commissioners the first day
(Sundays excepted) of October, November, December and
January of each year, the amount of taxes and the names of
the persons and the incorporated institutions from whom said
taxes were collected during the preceding month; and when
said taxes are paid, either voluntarily or after execution, the
said collector shall record said payment in a book to be pro-
vided by the County Commissioners in their office, at such
times as the commissioners may by order direct, and such
record shall he prima facie evidence of the payment of said
taxes, and may be used in any court of record in this State.

Discounts.

|
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That tins act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.
