SEC. 29. And be it enacted, That the commissioners now in
office shall remain and continue to be commissioners of Snow
Hill until the first election under this act, and until their
successors in the persons of mayor and council are elected

and qualified; and all their acts shall have the same effect as if
this act had not been passed; and that all acts or parts of acts
inconsistent with the provisions of this act are hereby
repealed.

Effective.

SEC. 30. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 456.

AN ACT to repeal Section two hundred and fifty-three of
Article ten of the Code of Public Local Laws, title "Dor-
chester County," sub-title "Oysters," and to re-enact the
same with amendments.

Repeal.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That section two hundred and fifty- three of article
ten of the Code of Public Local Laws, titled "Dorchester
County," sub-titled "Oysters," be and the same is hereby re-
pealed and re-enacted with amendments, so as to read as
follows :

oysters.

SEC. 253. Be it enacted, That it shall be lawful for citizens
of Dorchester county to catch oysters, with scoops or dredges
in boats owned by said citizens, not exceeding ten tons burthen,
according to rules of custom-house measurement, in Honga
river, Hooper's straits, Holland straits, Tar bay, and that part
of Fishing bay which lies to the southward and westward of a
straight line drawn from Bishop's head point to Clay island
lighthouse, and in all the waters to the southward and eastward
of Clay island, in Dorchester county, and adjoining the Wi-
comico lines up to Sandy island, and in the waters of the Great
Choptank river, where it is now lawful to take oysters with
scrapes or dredges : but in no boat licensed under sections 255,
256 and 257, shall' catch oysters within two hundred yards of
the shore; and the County Commissioners shall furnish two
suitable buoys, and the captain of the police sloop, guarding
these waters, shall keep said buoys anchored on said line from
