Repeal.

dred and sixty, chapter nineteen, entitled "An Act to Incorpo-
rate the Egerton Orphan Asylum of Baltimore," be and the
same is hereby repealed and re-enacted, so as to read as follows :

into orphan
asylum.

5. That the said managers are hereby authorized to admit
and receive into the asylum any white female orphan or half-
orphan child or children, between the ages of four and eight
years, upon such terms and for such period during their
minority as said managers shall see fit, and to continue them
when so admitted from time to time, until they shall attain the
age of eighteen years, or for a shorter period, as circumstances
may require, at the option of said managers or according to the
by-laws made by them from time to time; and the children so
admitted into the asylum shall, excepting where otherwise pro-
vided by said by-laws or by the special term of their admission,
be subject to the same regulations that apprentices are by the
laws of this State, so long as they remain in the asylum, and
until they are bound out by the managers, according to the
direction of said will, which the said managers are hereby
authorized to do, for the time and in the manner that other
female children shall or may be bound; provided, that nothing
herein contained shall be considered as abridging the security
afforded by the law concerning apprentices; and except where
otherwise provided by the terms of their admission, the said
managers may at any time and in their own discretion, transfer
the guardianship of and control over any of the said children
admitted to said asylum to any suitable person or persons who
may consent to legally adopt them; or said managers may on
their discretion place any of said children in suitable houses or
situations, without either binding them out as apprentices or
securing their adpption.
