CHAPTER 431.

AN ACT to refund to Samuel G. Townshend, Treasurer of
Prince George's County, and Collector of State and county
taxes, the sum of four hundred and thirty-three dollars and
eighty-eight cents, the same being the amount of discounts
allowed by him on State taxes paid before the 1st of Sep-
tember, October and November, in the year 1892, which,
through a mistake on the part of the said Samuel G. Towns-
hend, wa& not paid into the State Treasury until the 1st of
January, 1893, and which could not, therefore, be allowed
by the Comptroller.

Preamble

WHEREAS, Samuel G. Townshend, treasurer of Prince
George's county, and collector of State and county taxes for
the same, in the year eighteen hundred and ninety-two, allowed
to certain tax payers of said county, discounts on certain State
taxes, paid before the 1st day of September, amounting to the
sum of $320 41-100, and also discounts on State taxes paid
before the 1st day of October, amounting to the sum of $82
59-100, and also discounts on certain State taxes paid before
the 1st of November, amounting to the sum of $30 88-100 ;
and,

Preamble.

WHEREAS, The said Samuel G. Townshend, through an
error, failed to pay said State taxes so collected by him before
the dates above mentioned into the State treasury before the
1st of January, 1893, not knowing that the same were required
to be paid on or before the 15th of said months of September,
October and November, in order to entitle him to be allowed
the said discounts so allowed by him to the tax payers of said
county, the said year 1892 being his first year as treasurer and
collector of said county; therefore,

Appropria-
tion.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the Comptroller of the Treasury be and he
is hereby authorized and directed to issue his warrant on the
Treasurer of this State to pay the said Samuel G, Townshend
the sum of four hundred and thirty-three dollars and eighty-
eight cents.

Effective.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.
