failed to observe any of the conditions of his recognizance,
issue process for his apprehension, and thereupon, without any
further proceedings, impose sentence upon him.

CHAPTER 403.
AN ACT to provide for the enlargement of the Maryland
State Normal School building, and for metal ceilings and
other repairs in said building, and making an appropriation
therefor.

Annex to
Normal
School.
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the Board of Public Works of the State of
Maryland and the State Board of Education be and they are
hereby appointed a committee, and as such are authorized and
directed to cause to be erected an enlargement of or annex to
the Maryland State Normal School building, which shall pro-
vide for a gymnasium, an additional study and a laboratory
for the use of said school, and to cause to be constructed metal
ceilings in the study and recitation rooms of said building,
and such other repairs as said committee may deem necessary.

architect.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That said committee be and they
are hereby authorized and directed to contract with and employ
a good, practical and experienced architect to prepare, under
their direction and approval, plans, specifications and drawings
for the annex or enlargement provided for in section one of
this act, with an estimate of the cost of said annex or enlarge-
ment; and also to supervise the building of said annex or,
enlargement, and to see that the work and material used are
in accordance with the specifications; and the said committee

shall, after a plan is adopted, advertise for bids for the build-
ing of said annex or enlargement, and shall award the contract
for the same to the lowest responsible bidder, who shall
execute a bond to the State of Maryland, in such penalty as
the said committee may prescribe, for the faithful performance
of his contract, said bond to be approved by the said committee,
and the said committee is directed to proceed with all possible
dispatch to perform the duties imposed on them by this act ;
provided, that the architect so employed and the person to
whom the contract for said building is awarded, shall be bona
fide residents of the State of Maryland.
