CHAPTER 393.

AN ACT to refund to George R. Goldsborough a certain
sum of money erroneously paid into the Treasury.

WHEREAS, George R. Goldsborough, as executor of Eliza
Goldsborough, deceased, did pay the collateral inheritance tax
upon a mortgage of five thousand dollars to the register of
wills for Talbot county, to wit: one hundred and twenty -five
dollars, which said amount was paid into the State Treasury
by the said register of wills for Talbot county, on the thirty-
first day of December, eighteen hundred and ninety-one, less
his commissions of five per centum on the same, viz : one hun-
dred and eighteen dollars and seventy-five cents; afterwards
by a decision of the Court of Appeals of Maryland, in the case
of Martin vs. Goldsborough, it was determined that the mort-
gage of five thousand dollars, as aforesaid, formed no part of
the assets of the estate of the said Eliza Goldsborough; there-
fore,

Preamble.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the Comptroller of the Treasury be and he is
hereby authorized and directed to draw his warrant upon the
Treasurer in favor of George R. Goldsborough, for the sum of
one hundred and eighteen dollars and seventy-five cents, the
refunding of said amount having been recommended by the
treasury officials.

Appropria-
tion.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

Approved April 6th, 1894.

CHAPTER 394.

AN ACT to appropriate a sum of money to pay Daniel H.
Staley, for services rendered the State at the request of the
Comptroller, in recovering a sum of money due the State.

Effective.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the sum of one hundred dollars be and the
same is hereby appropriated to pay Daniel H. Staley, for ser-
vices rendered in securing the payment into the Treasury of
Maryland, certain moneys due to the State; and the Comp-
