CHAPTER 39.

AN ACT to declare the sanction and consent of the General
Assembly of Maryland to sundry grants, sales, leases and
deeds made by various persons and corporations in this State,
to and for the use and benefit of sundry religious corpora-
tions hereinafter named.

Certain deeds
sanctioned.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the sanction and consent of the General
Assembly of Maryland be and the same are hereby declared,
given and granted to the following grants, sale, leases and
deeds, to and for the use of certain religious corporations, as
herein set forth. First. To the lease and devise to the Church
of the Ascension, a body corporate duly incorporated under
the laws of this State, from William Lorman, of certain prop-
erty lying on the north side of Lexington street, east of Pine
street, and more particularly described in a lease from said
William Lorman to said Church of the Ascension, dated the
twenty-eighth day of May, in the year eighteen hundred and
forty, and recorded among the land records of Baltimore city,
in Liber T. K. No. 311, folios 524, &c., and to the sub-
lease of the same lot of ground by Guinalda Spencer to the
Church of the Ascension, by indenture dated the third day
of July, in the year eighteen hundred and fifty-four, and
recorded among the land records of Baltimore city, in Liber
E. D. No. 63, folio 454, &c. Second. To the sale and
grant by the Church of the Ascension to the Trustees
of the Central Methodist Episcopal Church South, in the city
of Baltimore, of all that lot of ground in the city of Balti-
more, on the north side of Lexington street, and more
particularly described in an assignment from the Church of
the Ascension to the Trustees of the Central Methodist
Episcopal Church South, in the city of Baltimore, dated the
twentieth day of April, in the year eighteen hundred and
sixty-seven, and recorded among the land records of Balti-
more city, in Liber A. M. No. 334, folio 166, &c. Third. To
the deed of assignment from Charles F. Diggs, Samuel H.
Williams and Gersham Broadbent, to the Trustees of the
Central Methodist Episcopal Church South, in the city of
Baltimore, a body corporate, duly incorporated under the laws
of this State, dated the seventeenth day of December, in the
year eighteen hundred and seventy-two, and recorded among
