for proper water-works and a sufficient supply of water; and
after receiving the said plans and specifications they shall in-
vite sealed proposals by advertisement for a reasonable time
for the construction and completion of said works, which pro-

posals shall be sent in sealed envelopes addressed to said Mayor
and Council, and by them shall be publicly opened on the day
named in said advertisement; said proposals shall set forth the
amount of money for which the parties proposing will con-
struct such works according to the plan and specification sub-
mitted, and the time or times at which payments therefor shall
be made, and the time when said water-works will be com-
pleted; and the said Mayor and Council may reject any and
all bids, or award the contract to the lowest responsible bidder
therefor, at their discretion, requiring any accepted bidder to
give bond in such penalty as said Mayor and Council shall
determine, conditioned for the faithful performance of the
contract entered into.

Effective.

SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 343.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments section one
of Chapter eighty-two of the Acts passed at the January
Session, eighteen hundred and ninety-two, titled an act to
authorize the County Commissioners of Dorchester County
to borrow money on the credit of the county, for the
purpose of repairing the bridge across Cambridge Creek in
the town of Cambridge, said county, and to place a wider
draw therein, and to give their bonds or bills obligatory for
the payment, and to levy a tax to redeem said bonds or bills
obligatory.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That section one of chapter eighty-two of the act
passed at the January session, eighteen hundred and ninety-
two, titled an act to authorize the County Commissioners of
