Fees of
State's
attorney.

cheater county may allow to said State's attorney such compen-
sation, not exceeding the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars
for any one year, as they shall think just and proper: and for
all trials in criminal cases before justices of the peace the same
fees shall be allowed the State's attorney as are now allowed in
similar cases before the Circuit Court, to be taxed by the
justice with the other costs in the case and paid by the party if
convicted, and to be paid by the County Commissioners if the
party is acquitted or is unable to pay; provided, that the com-
pensation so allowed, together with the total of the fees re-
ceived, shall not amount to more than twelve hundred dollars
in any ono year.

Effective.

SEC. 2. Be it enacted, That this act shall take effect on and
from the first day of December, eighteen hundred and ninety-
five.

CHAPTER 214.

AN ACT to authorize, direct and require the County Com-
missioners of Baltimore County to make a special annual
levy of ten cents on the hundred dollars of the whole
assessable property situated and located within the limits of
the villages of Canton and Highlandtown, in Baltimore
County, for the purpos-'c of grading, paving and kerbing cer-
tain streets in said villages.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, The public convenience demands that certain
streets should be graded, kerbed and paved in that part of the
twelfth district of Baltimore county, within one mile of the
present limits of Baltimore city, and known as the villages of
Canton and Highlandtown; therefore,

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the board of County Commissioners of Balti-
more county, at the time of the annual tax levy for the year
(1894) eighteen hundred and ninety-four, and each succeeding
year, are hereby authorized, directed and required to make a
special annual levy of ten cents on each hundred dollars of the
whole assessable property situated and located within the limits
of the villages of Canton and Highlandtown, in Baltimore
