choose a president and secretary either from their own body
or from the other members of said corporation; and in the
event of the death, resignation or disqualification of the presi-
dent or secretary, the directors shall elect their successors in
the same manner.

The board of directors are hereby authorized to admit to

membership in said corporation any minister of the Roman
Catholic religion within the United States, and citizens thereof,
from time to time, as they may see fit. The present board of
trustees shall continue in office until the election, on the first
Thursday in April, A. D. eighteen hundred and ninety-four,
held in pursuance of this act.

Membership.

SEC.2. And be it further enacted, That the said corporation
of the Roman Catholic Clergymen shall be capable in law to
take, receive and hold by purchase, gift, lease, devise, bequest,
legacy, or in any other manner, any property, real, personal or
mixed, lying in or out of this State, and the same to alien,
sell, transfer, mortgage, grant, assign, convey, hypothecate or
otherwise dispose of at pleasure. .

Corporate
powers.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That the corporation of
the Roman Catholic Clergymen shall have the express right
and power to alien, sell, transfer, mortgage, grant, assign, con-
vey, hypothecate or otherwise dispose of at pleasure, any
property, real, personal or mixed, acquired by it by virtue of
the acts of seventeen hundred and ninety-two, chapter 55,
eighteen hundred and five, chapter 118, and eighteen hundred
and eight, chapter 37, or in any other manner since said
acts, in as full and ample a manner as if said powers had
been granted to said corporation in express words, in said
original acts, to which this is a supplement, and without
any responsibility on the part of the donees, grantees,
or assignees thereof, to see to the application or investment
of the purchase money thereof, and free from all trusts,
expressed or implied, arising out of the construction of said
acts, and with power to the said corporation to use and dispose
of the proceeds thereof in such manner as the said board of
directors may determine; and that all sales, gifts, transfers,
mortgages or deeds executed or made to the corporation of the
Roman Catholic Clergymen, or by it or the trustees thereof,
since the original incorporation thereof, of any property owned
or acquired by it at any time, and all applications and disposi-
tions of the proceeds of said sales or mortgages to and for the
uses of said corporation be and the same are hereby ratified
