LAWS OF MARYLAND.

gages, lands, certificates of indebtedness of incorporated com-
panies, notes, loans or bonds of the United States, or of any
city, county or municipality, or of any incorporated company
or individual. Provided, that no loan shall be made directly
or indirectly to any officers or employees of. said company;
and for any violation of this provision, the party or parties'
making or consenting thereto, directly or indirectly, shall be
liable to said company for the amount so loaned, and all coun-
sel fees and losses which may result therefrom.

Repeal.

19. That sections 9 to 16, inclusive, of chapter 313, acts of
eighteen hundred and thirty-five, entitled an act to incor-
porate the Chesapeake Bank, and all articles or sub-sections
included in said sections, be and the same are hereby repealed.

Name
changed.

Number of
directors.

20. That the name of said body corporate is hereby changed
to the Chesapeake Bank and Trust Company.

21. That the number of directors of said body corporate
are hereby increased to thirteen, one of whom, appointed by
said board, shall be president of said company.

Subject to
certain laws.

22. And be it further enacted, That said corporation shall
be subject to the provisions of chapters 109 and 279 of the
acts of eighteen hundred and ninety-two, and such other pro-
visions of law regulating banking and trust companies as may
be now or hereafter created.

Effective.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 126.

AN ACT to add an additional section to Article eight of the
Code of Public Local Laws, title " Cecil County," sub title
" Sheriff," to be known as Section 336 1/2, to come in after'
Section 336, providing for the appointment by the Sheriff of
Cecil County, of a physician to the jail of said county, and to
fix the compensation of said physician.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That an additional section be and the same, is
