SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect

CHAPTER 6.
AN ACT to repeal Chapter 423, Laws of 1892, entitled "An
Act to regulate the sale and the granting of license for the
sale of spirituous and fermented liquors in Carroll County,"
and to re-enact the same with amendments.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of

Maryland, That chapter 423 of the Laws of 1892, entitled
"An act to regulate the sale and the granting of license for the
sale of spirituous and fermented liquors in Carroll county," be
and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted so as to read
as follows :
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That no person shall hereafter

sell, offer for sale or keep for sale, in Carroll county, any
intoxicating liquors of any kind without having previously
obtained a license therefor as hereinafter provided; but this act
shall not apply to sales made by any person under provision of
law requiring him to sell personal property, or for sales of
cider or native wines by the makers thereof, and not to be
drunk on the premises.
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That all licenses to sell spirituous

and fermented liquors shall expire on the first day of May
next ensuing the date of their issue, and shall be issued for
twelve or any less number of months, but for no fraction of a
month.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That any person desiring to
obtain a license to sell spirituous or fermented liquors in
Carroll county, except as hereinafter otherwise provided, shall,
on or before the tirst day of the month next preceding the
month with which he desires the license to begin, file an
application in writing with the clerk of the Circuit Court
for Carroll county, in which he shall state: First, the
name and residence of the applicant; second, that he is a
