CHAP. 509

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall ta^e
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 510.

AN ACT to amend the Charter of the City of Frederick,
by adding an additional section to Article 11 of the Code
of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title " Frederick
County," sub-title "Frederick," to follow 235, and to be
known as Section 235 A, authorizing the Mayor and
Aldermen of Frederick to borrow sufficient money, not
exceeding twenty thousand dollars, to pay for the remodel-
ing, etc., of the City Hall building in Frederick City,
and to issue the obligation of the city therefor, etc.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-

land, That it shall and may be lawful for the Mayor and
Aldermen of Frederick to borrow, on the faith and credit of
the corporation of Frederick, a sufficient sum of money, not
exceeding, however, the sum of twenty thousand dollars, to
pay for the remodeling of the present City Hall building in
Frederick city, by altering and modernizing the opera house
or theatre, located in said City Hall building, including the
seats, furnishings, etc., and by making an addition to said
building for market-house purposes, with full power to
issue the promissory note, notes or obligations of the cor-
poration, under the corporate seal, and signed by the Mayor
for the amount authorized to be borrowed by this Act; and
to provide for the payment of the money borrowed, and the
interest thereon, at such time and in such way, as may be
for the best interest of the said city, and to levy and collect
all necessary taxes for that purpose; provided, the rents
and revenues from said building are not sufficient for these
purposes.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted and ordained by the authority
aforesaid, That this Act shall take effect from the date of its
passage.
