Preamble.
|
WHEREAS, Without waiting to see what response there
would be by the citizens of Baltimore city generally to the
appeal for aid made to them by the good people of the town
of Millington, in Kent county, in this State, after the disas-
trous conflagration which recently visited that town, Michael
Jenkins, a citizen of Baltimore, advanced to the relief of
suffering inflicted by said fire the sum of one thousand four
hundred and twenty-one dollars and forty-five cents; and
WHEREAS, The people of Baltimore city are in many ways
too deeply indebted to the public spirit and generosity of
Michael Jenkins to be willing that he should personally
assume the whole of an obligation that they ought, under
the circumstances, to insist should be borne by them all,
SECTION 1. Now, therefore, be it enacted by the General
Assembly of Maryland. That the Mayor and City Council of

Baltimore be and it is hereby authorized to reimburse Michael
Jenkins for said sum advanced by him as aforesaid.

CHAPTER 466.
AN ACT to appropriate a sum of money for the payment of
the costs in the case of Blum versus the State of Mary-
land.
WHEREAS, By the mandate of the Court of Appeals of

Preamble.
|
Maryland in the case of Blum versus the State, appealed
from the Criminal Court of the city of Baltimore and
reported in 94th Maryland Reports, at page 375, judgment
was reversed, with costs to be paid by the appellee above
and below; and
WHEREAS, No fund is provided by law for the payment of
said costs, and most of the same have been paid by the
appellant, which have not been re-imbursed, and the same
remain unpaid to his great damage and injury; therefore,
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the sum of two hundred and ninety-eight dollars

and seventy-five cents ($298.75) be and the same is hereby
appropriated for the payment of the said costs out of any
money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated, and the
Comptroller of the State be and he is hereby directed to
draw his warrant upon the Treasurer in behalf of Philip
