made within six months from the passage of this Act; and no
animals slaughtered after the passage of this Act shall be
appraised and paid for hereunder unless such appraisement
shall be made or begun within six months from the time
when such animals were slaughtered.

CHAPTER 432.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section
159 of Article 9 of the Code of Public Local Laws, title
"Charles County," sub-title "Roads and Bridges," as
said section was repealed and re-enacted by Chapter 227
of the Acts of 1902.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 159 of Article 9 of the Code of Public

Bridges," be and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted
with amendments, so as to read as follows :
Section 159. The County Commissioners of Charles county
shall, at their first meeting in March, annually, appoint in

each election district of said county three substantial citi-
zens of Charles county, who shall be taxpayers on real
estate, to be known as " District Road Superintendents ;"
the said superintendents shall immediately after their ap-
pointment meet in their respective districts and organize by
the election of a president and secretary, and thereupon they
shall appoint a road supervisor for each election district,
who shall receive one dollar and fifty cents a day for each
day actually engaged in supervising the work on the county
roads and working thereon; the said superintendents shall
employ not more than five laborers, and less when in their
discretion five are not needed to work on the county roads,
said laborers not to receive more than one dollar per day
when actually engaged at work; all work on said county
roads shall be under the management of the district road
superintendent, subject to the supervision of the County
Commissioners; the supervisors shall monthly make out the
accounts for road work in their districts and present the
same to the district road superintendents, who shall then
approve or disapprove said accounts as their judgment
