Section 117. And be it further enacted, That it shall be the

said town are duly and faithfully executed, and he shall
appoint, subject to the confirmation of the Council, all such
persons as agents and servants of said corporation as may
be necessary to carry out the object and purposes of the
incorporation, and to enforce the ordinances to be passed
thereby, including a clerk to said Council, whose duty it
shall be to attend all meetings of said Council, and to perform
all other such duties as shall be from time to time prescribed
by ordinance; and said clerk shall receive such compensa-
tion as said Council may by ordinance prescribe; and shall
hold said office for one year from the date of his appoint-
ment; all ordinances passed by said Council shall be signed
by said Mayor and president of said Council, and attested
by said clerk, and be by said clerk entered at length in a
book to be kept by him for that purpose, and shall be open
at all times for the inspection of any person or persons
interested; and immediately upon the passage of any ordi-
nance, or as soon thereafter as convenient, said clerk shall
post printed or written copies of said ordinance so passed
by said Council in five of the most public places of said
town.
