tioned in such advertisement they shall publicly open such
sealed proposals and award the contract for such construc-
tion and equipment to the lowest responsible bidder, with
power to them to reject in their discretion any or all bids,
and with further power to them to demand that all bids shall
be accompanied by a good and sufficient bond in the penalty
of ———— thousand dollars, conditioned for the faithful per-
formance by the bidder of the contract should the same be
awarded to him.
SEC. 15. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 412.

AN ACT to add an additional section to Article 54 of the
Code of Public General Laws of the State of Maryland,
title " Land Office," said section to be numbered 16 A.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-

required to do so, cause copies thereof to be made under the
seal of his said office, and shall receive and retain therefor
fees at the same rate now charged for copies and searches
for other papers in his office, and shall receive as compen-
sation for his services and responsibility the sum of fifty
dollars per month, which shall be in addition to the salary
now allowed him by law as the commissioner of the land
office; provided however, that the fees received by him for
copies of papers, etc., shall, after paying the actual expense
