CHAP. 74

electric lighting current for lighting the streets, roads and
highways of the town of Hyattsville, and to light the same
therewith, and to sell any surplus current or light, and that
the Mayor and Common Council of Hyattsville shall have
all powers necessary or appropriate to accomplish said
objects.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the Mayor and

Power given
to acquire
by purchase
lease, etc.,
any land in
Hyattsville
for said
plant.

Common Council of Hyattsville shall have full power to
acquire by purchase, lease, gift, devise or by condemnation
, in the manner provided in Sections 248 to 254, inclusive, of
Article 23 of the Code of Public General Laws of Maryland,
title " Corporations," sub-title " Condemnation of Property
by Corporations," or by any other law which may be passed
in lieu thereof, or a substitution therefor, or intended to
provide for the condemnation of property by corporations,
and land or any interest therein in said town of Hyattsville,
or in Prince George's county, adjacent thereto, which may
be needed for any part of said electric lighting plant, build-
ings, machinery, poles, conduits, wires or other instrumen-
talities, or the lighting of the streets, roads and highways of
said town.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That the Mayor and

struct con-
duits in the
streets, etc.

Common Council of Hyattsville, shall have full power and
authority to plant poles and construct conduits in the streets,
roads and highways of Hyattsville, and adjacent thereto in
Prince George's county, and in any land belonging to or
which it shall acquire, or in which it shall acquire any right
of way or use or other right, in the manner specified in the
preceding section of this Act, and to string electric wires on
said poles and in said conduits for the operation of said
electric lighting plant, and shall have full power to provide
by ordinance fines and penalties for interference with or
injury to any part of said electric lighting plant, which shall
be collected or enforced as other fines and penalties are
collected or enforced.

SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That the said Mayor and

issued and
sold.

Common Council of Hyattsville shall have full power and
authority to issue and sell its registered or coupon bonds to
an amount not exceeding twelve thousand dollars ($12,000.00)
par value to provide itself with the means to acquire or con-
struct said electric lighting plant, buildings, lands, rights in
