vices, payable annually. Before entering upon his duties he
shall take and subscribe before the retiring Mayor, or any
justice of the peace in Allegany county, the oath prescribed
in Section 6 of Article 1 of the Constitution of Maryland.
Annually, on the first Monday in April, he shall report in
writing to the Council the receipts and disbursements of the
town and the sums due to and owing by said town, if any
be due, and make such recommendations as he thinks proper;
which report shall be printed in some newspaper published
in Allegany county, for the information of the voters of the
corporation.
Council.
Section 184 A5. The Council shall be composed of six
members, who shall be elected as hereinbefore provided, and

shall hold their office, from the first Monday in Jane of each
year, next after their election, for two years, or until their
successors are duly elected and qualified; before entering
upon their duties the councilmen shall make oath before the
Ma.yor that they will diligently perform the duties required
of them by law as members of the Council without partiality
or prejudice. Any person having the qualifications pre-
scribed in the paragraph of this Act bearing the sub-title
"Elections," and who shall be assessed upon the books of
the corporation with not less than two hundred dollars' worth
of property, real or personal, shall be eligible as a member
of the Council. The Council shall meet on the first Monday
in each month and at such other times as it may be neces-
sary for public business. Members of the Council shall
receive five dollars each, annually, for attending the sessions
of the Council or attending to the other public business
required of them.
Elections, Judges, Rolls.
Section 184 A6. The Council shall appoint three judges of

election and two clerks, for the purpose of holding each gen-
eral or special election which may be held under the provi-
sions of this Act or the ordinances passed in pursuance
thereof; the said judges and clerks of election shall conduct
the election in all respects as such elections are usually held,
first taking oath as required by law before the Mayor to
faithfully perform their several duties respectively and mak-
ing return under their hands and seals to the clerk of said
