SEC. 2. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,

fence shall not comply with the foregoing provisions, and
shall refuse or delay to make or repair the said fence within
twenty days after notice in writing shall be given to the
said party, his agent, overseer or tenant, then upon proof
before a justice of the peace it shall be lawful for the said
justice of the peace, under his hand and seal, to authorize
the party aggrieved and suffering by such refusal or delay,
to make or repair the said fence as above required, and for
so doing he, she or they shall be re-imbursed all costs and
reasonable expenses necessarily incurred, to be recovered from
the party so refusing or delaying, in the same manner as
debts of a like amount are now recoverable.
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 323.
AN ACT to encourage the destruction of Hawks in Somerset
County.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-

Reward for
killing -
hawks.

land, That any person killing any hawk in Somerset county
shall be entitled to receive twenty-five cents for each and
every hawk so killed; provided, however, that the pro-
visions of this Act shall not apply to fish hawks.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That to obtain said bounty
mentioned in the previous section it shall be necessary for

the person killing said hawk to produce the head or heads
of the same before the treasurer of Somerset county, and at
the same time make oath that the said hawk was killed
within the limits of the said county, and it shall be the duty
of said treasurer to pay the said bounty out of the gen-
eral fund in the county treasury, and to destroy the said
heads by burning, or to mutilate them in such a manner as
to prevent a second allowance for the same.
