public highway, and to provide for the widening and
maintenance of the same.

WHEREAS, The thoroughfare in the thirteenth election dis-
trict of Baltimore county leading easterly from the Washing-

ton, road near Sulphur Spring road to Hammond's Ferry
road at Lansdowne, has existed and been used by the general
public without interruption for more than fifty years, and is
a public convenience and necessity; but being less than
thirty, feet wide the local laws for Baltimore county prohibit
the acceptance thereof by the Highways Commission of Bal-
timore county as a county road without a special Act author-
izing the same; therefore,
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-

land, That the thoroughfare in the thirteenth election dis-
trict of Baltimore county leading easterly from the Washing-
ton road near Sulphur Spring road to Hammond's Ferry
road at Lansdowne, be and the same is hereby made and
declared to be a public highway and county road, and as
such shall hereafter be maintained by the Highway's Com-
mission of Baltimore county and their successors, who are
hereby authorized to ascertain and define the present width
of said road, and to widen the same to thirty feet or more in
their discretion, by purchase or condemnation of the abut-
ting property.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That all Acts or parts of Acts

inconsistent with this Act, be and the same are hereby
repealed in so far as they are in conflict with this Act.
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 57.

AN ACT to regulate the taking of fish in the waters of the
northwest branch of Nanticoke river, in Dorchester
county.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That it shall be lawful for any person to put or place
