under the laws of this State, and authorized to operate in
either of said counties, upon such terms as may be set forth
in the agreement for such consolidation; provided, the said
agreement is approved by the majority of the stockholders
of each company, and by the terms of said agreement the
said companies may fix and determine the amount of capital
stock of such consolidated company, not exceeding the sum
of ten million dollars, and also fix and determine the name
of said consolidated company, and said agreement shall be
filed for record in the office of the Secretary of State, and
thereafter said consolidated company, by the name so fixed
and determined, shall possess and exercise all and every the
powers of each of said constituted companies; provided,
that none of the provisions of this Act shall apply to Cecil
county.
SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 283.

AN ACT to authorize the Trustees of the Grove Presbyterian
Church, in Harford county, Maryland, a body corporate,
to acquire, for the purposes of sepulchre only, land adjoin-
ing its burial ground or cemetery, by condemnation.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-

land, That the trustees of the Grove Presbyterian Church, in
Harford county, Maryland, a body corporate, be and the
same is hereby empowered and authorized to acquire by
condemnation, land adjoining its burying ground, for the
purpose of sepulchre, and for none other, not exceeding five
acres; provided, the trustees of the said church cannot agree
with the owner or owners of the land, or if such owner or
owners of any of them be a feme covert, without power to
contract in relation to said property, or under age, or non
compos mentis, or under any legal disability, or be absent
from the said county when said land may be needed by the
said corporation, then it may proceed to condemn and acquire
the same in the manner provided in Sections 248 to 253,
both inclusive, of Article 23 of the Code of Public General
Laws of this State.
