shall be required to take out a license or not, shall be deemed
guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof shall
be fined not less than two hundred and fifty dollars, nor
more than five hundred dollars, in the discretion of the
court; no license under this section shall be issued for a
longer period than one year; if issued for a shorter period
the licensee shall pay for every month for which his license
is to run one-twelfth of the annual charge for such license,
and all such licenses shall expire on the first day of May
succeeding their issue; the whole of the money received by
the clerk of the Court of Common Pleas for the licenses
aforesaid shall be paid over quarterly by said clerk of the
Court of Common Pleas to the State, as now provided by
law, and when so paid over the Comptroller of the Treasury
shall draw his warrant upon the Treasurer in favor of the
Mayor and City Council of Baltimore for three-fourths
thereof, to be applied to the general use of said city.

allowing the sale of intoxicating liquors at a hotel or ordi-

nary, unless he shall present to the clerk of the Court of
Common Pleas a notification, as provided for in Section 678
of this article, wherein the decision of the Board of Liquor
License Commissioners to grant a " Hotel License " to the
applicant is plainly expressed, nor until such applicant, in
addition to paying the sums prescribed in this sub-division
of this article, shall have also paid for and received a license
to keep a hotel or ordinary, as now provided by law.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 279.

AN ACT to Prohibit the Granting of License for the Sale of
Spirituous or Fermented Liquors or Lager Beer in any
part of the district of Baltimore City bounded by Druid
Hill Park on the south, the Western Maryland Railroad
on the west, the northern boundary line of the city of Bal-
timore on the north and the Northern Central Railroad on
the east.
