CHAPTER 50.
AN ACT to provide for "the appointment of a Custodian of
Works of References in the Maryland State Library.
WHEREAS, There is now need for the appointment of some

person in charge of the, public reading room at the Maryland
State Library an order that the public may have use of the
same and,
WHEREAS, The State Librarian has . recommended the
creation of said office in her annual report, therefore,
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
|

land, That the Governor, by and with the advice and consent
of the Senate, is authorized and empowered to appoint a
person as Custodian of Works of References, who shall hold
Office for a period of two years or until the appointment of
a successor, who shall receive an annual salary of seven
hundred and twenty dollars, payable monthly in installments
by warrant of the Comptroller upon the Treasurer. It shall
be the duty of the Custodian of Works of References to
attend daily at the Library during such hours as may be
fixed by the Library Committee, and shall perform such
duties as may be required by said Library Committee and
the State Librarian.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

AN ACT to declare the sanction and consent of the General
Assembly of Maryland to the gift and devise of Lucretia
E. Van Bibber, deceased, to the Vestry and Ascension
Parish of the Protestant Episcopal Church of Westmin-
ster, Maryland.
WHEREAS, Lucretia, E. Van Bibber, by deed dated Septem-

ber 28, A. D. 1892, convey ed to the "Order of the Holy
Cross of Westminster, Maryland," a religious corporation, a
parcel of land containing one acre, one rood and four perches,
limiting the uses of "said property by said corporation to the
uses in its charter prescribed, and providing that in case of
an abandonment of said premises the same should revert to
her, her heirs and assigns; and
