176. The bailiff and all policemen of said town duly
elected or appointed according to law, shall have the same

the ordinances of said town or in the discharge of their
duties as such. The bailiff shall collect and turn over to the
treasurer all fines imposed for violation of ordinances, and
shall properly care for and safely keep all prisoners confined
in the town lockup, and shall be entitled to charge and
receive the sum of fifteen cents for each meal served to such
prisoners, and the sum of one dollar ($1.50) and fifty cents
for the transportation of prisoners committed to the county
jail.

177. In cases where any person is found guilty of violat-
ing any of the ordinances of said town, it shall and may be

for districts 11, 12, 26 and 28, authorized to try said case,
upon the conviction of the offender to impose the fine pre-
scribed by the particular ordinance under which said person
is tried, and upon failure or refusal of the party thus con-
victed to pay such fine and costs, to commit him to the town
lockup for a time not exceeding five days, or to the county
jail for a period not exceeding thirty days.

179. The revised, codified and printed ordinances of the
