of the Orphans' Court of Baltimore City, or the judge of
the Superior Court of Baltimore City if he be elected for
said city, with condition that he shall well and faithfully
execute the office of sheriff of ———— county, or the city of
Baltimore, in all things appertaining thereto, and shall well
and truly perform all the duties required by law to be by
him performed; provided, that the sheriff elected for Somer-
set, Harford, Calvert, Howard; Carroll, St. Mary's, Dorches-
ter, Anne Arundel, Queen Anne's, Wicomico, Garrett and
Worcester counties .shall be required to give bond in the
penalty of ten thousand dollars, and for no greater sum.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 40.

AN ACT to authorize and empower the trustees of alms-
house of Kent county, Maryland, to sell and convey a
certain piece of land or make an exchange of lands to and
with George Bell of said Kent county.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the trustees of the almshouse in Kent county,

Maryland, be and they are hereby authorized and empow-
ered for such consideration as they may deem proper to con-
vey by deed duly executed and acknowledged according to
law a .part of the farm or tract of land in said county known
as the almshouse property and described as. follows: Begin-
ning for the same at a point on the west side of the public
road leading from the Methodist Episcopal Church camp
grounds to the village of Lankford and at the end of the
division line between the said almshouse farm and the lands
of Isaac R. Leaverton and running thence in a westerly
direction by and with the lands of said Leaverton to the
lands of George Bell, thence in a northerly direction with
the line of the lands of said Bell to the end of a line drawn
parallel with the first line herein and thirty feet north of
same, thence by and with said parallel line and in an east-
erly direction to the west side of the aforesaid public road,
thence by and with west side of said road and in a southerly
direction thirty feet to the beginning.
