legal services performed by such constable or constables in
prosecution of offenders before said Justices during the pre-
ceding month which have not been paid them by the parties
convicted, as required by law, and to state what fines and
costs such constable stands chargeable with, but no con-
stable shall be entitled to appropriate any such fines or
costs — to wit, costs formerly payable as fees to the Justice
of the Peace by offenders but by this Act required to be

paid over to the county instead of the Justice — to the pay-
ment of any account he may hold against said county, or to
any other purpose whatsoever; and the bond of such con-
stable shall be liable for all such fines and costs so charge-
able against him.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 28.
AN ACT to change the name of the House of Refuge, a
corporation duly incorporated by Chapter 64 of the Acts
of the General Assembly of Maryland of 1830, to The
Maryland School for Boys.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-

land, That the name of the House of Refuge, a corporation
duly incorporated by the General Assembly of Maryland by
Chapter 64 of the Acts of 1830, be and the same hereby is
changed to The Maryland School for Boys, which is hereby
fixed and established as the corporate name of said institu-
tion.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That all legacies now existing

and all legacies that may hereafter be given by persons dying
after the passage of this Act, and all appropriations for and
gifts, grants and devises heretofore or hereafter made, given,
granted, devised or bequeathed to the House of Refuge shall
survive and inure to the benefit of, and vest and remain in The
Maryland School for Boys, as fully as if made for or given,
granted, devised or bequeathed to it by said name of The
Maryland School for Boys.
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That The Maryland School
for Boys shall have all the rights, powers and privileges
