CHAP. 186

Works may from time to time prescribe. If any of the secu-
rities so sold by the Treasurer shall have words " Purchased
for the Sinking Fund " written or stamped upon them, the
Treasurer, before delivering the same to the purchaser thereof,
shall cause the words " Sold by order of the Board of Public
Works, dated this ——— day of ——— ," to be written or stamped
on said securities. And the said securities when so delivered
to the purchaser, shall be negotiable to the same extent as
if there had never been written or stamped upon them the
words "Purchased for the Sinking Fund. "
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 187.

AN ACT to amend the charter of the Baltimore, Hale-
thrope and Elkridge Railway Company, a corporation duly
incorporated under the provisions of Article 23 of the
Code of Public General Laws of Maryland, and to grant
certain additional powers to said corporation.

SECTION 1. Se it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That in addition to, and in no wise a limitation upon,
the powers and rights conferred upon the Baltimore, Hale-

granted, etc.

thrope and Elkridge Railway Company under the general
laws of this State authorizing the formation of railroad
companies, the said corporation shall have perpetual suc-
cession, and it is authorized and empowered to buy any other
railroad, and to lease, or sell to, or consolidate with any
other railroad or railway company; and it is furthermore
authorized to extend its line of railway, authorized by its
charter, into Baltimore city and to such other points in
Howard and Baltimore counties as the board of directors of
said corporation may determine; provided, however, that
before said corporation shall be entitled to lay its tracks
along, upon, or across any bridge, street, avenue or thorough-
fare in Baltimore city, or any public highway or county road
or bridge in either of said counties, the same shall be first
duly authorized by the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore
as to the streets, avenues, bridges and thoroughfares to be
used by said railway company in Baltimore city, pursuant to
