CHAPTER 172.
AN ACT to provide for the furnishing of the Land Office in
the new "Public Building" at Annapolis, with furniture,
books and file cases, and appropriating a sum of money
therefor.
WHEREAS, By Chapter 326 of the Acts of the General
Assembly, of Maryland, Session of 1900, an Act was passed

providing for the acquisition of a lot of land and the erection
thereon by the State of Maryland of a building in the city of
Annapolis in which shall be located the court-room, consul-
tation and other rooms of the Court of Appeals; the State
Library, or portion thereof; the Comptroller's office, the Tax
Commissioner's Office, the Treasurer's office, and for such
other purposes as may be deemed proper; and to appropriate
a sum of money therefor, and to provide for the removal of
building upon State house hill, known as the Comptroller's
office ;
WHEREAS, It was further provided that the commission
created for the purpose of carrying into effect the provisions of
said Act, and the said commission, in addition to other duties
perscribed, were to provide proper means of heating and
of furnishing said building and the several offices thereof,
and appropriating the sum of two hundred and ninety thous-
and dollars ($290,000.00) for defraying the expenses of
purchasing a lot, the erection of a building thereon and
furniture for the offices therein; and
WHEREAS, The said sum so appropriated was consumed
before any part of same could be used for furnishing the
Land Office; therefore,
SEC. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-

as may be necessary, is hereby appropriated out of any money
in the treasury not otherwise appropriated, and to be expended
under the control and direction of the Land Commissioner
or his successor, and he shall receive no other compensation
for his services than his actual traveling and necessary
