SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 800.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Sections
4 and 17 of the Charter of the town of Kensington, of
Montgomery County, Maryland, as enacted by the General
Assembly of Maryland by Chapter 621 of the Session of
1894, and amended by Chapter 78 of the Acts of the
General Assembly of 1898.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sections 4 and 17 of the Acts of the General

re-enact.
|
Assembly of Maryland of the Session of 1898, Chapter 78,
entitled "An Act to repeal and re-enact with amendments
Chapter 621 of the Acts of the General Assembly bf 1894,"
entitled "An Act to incorporate the town of Kensington in
Montgomery County," be and the same are hereby repealed
and re-enacted so as to read as follows :
Section 4. The citizens of the town shall, on the first
Monday in May, in the year 1906, and every second year

councilmen
to be elected.

thereafter on the first Monday in May, at such place or
places as shall be designated by the judges of election,
between the hours of 2 o'clock P. M. and 7 o'clock P. M.,
elect by ballot one person Mayor of said town, who shall
serve for a term of two years or until his successor is elected
and qualified. The citizens aforesaid shall also elect, on the
first Monday in May, 1906, two persons to be members of
the Council of said town, who shall serve for a term of two
years, or until their successors are elected and qualified,
and they, together with the two Councilmen elected at the
election held in said town on the first Monday in May,
1905, for two years from said date and the Mayor, shall con-
stitute the Council of said town. The citizens aforesaid
shall elect on the first Monday in May of each year there-
after two persons to be members of the Council of said town,
who shall serve for two years, or until their successors are
elected and qualified. The qualifications for voters, Mayor
and Councilmen, shall be the same as prescribed for voters
by the laws of this State. They must have resided within
