permitting said substance to be in close proximity to said
streams, the same shall be considered a continuing offense
until said substances shall be removed.
Sec 3. And be it further enacted, That all Acts or parts of
Acts inconsistent with the provisions of this Act are hereby

repealed, so far as the same effects Garrett county; pro-
vided, however, that nothing contained in this Act shall in
any manner effect any case or cases now pending, or any
violations of the law which have heretofore occurred, but
that all such cases and violations shall be prosecuted to a
conclusion as if the law hereby repealed were still in force.
SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

AN ACT to repeal Section 183 of Article 81, Code of Public
General Laws of Maryland, 1904, title " Revenue and
Taxes," sub-title "Tax on Mortgages," and re-enact the
same with amendments.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 183 of Article 81, Code of Public General

Repeal and
re-enact.
|
Laws of Maryland, 1904, title "Revenue and Taxes," sub-
title "Tax on Mortgages," be and the same is hereby
repealed and re-enacted, so as to read as follows :
183. All mortgages, or assignees holding mortgages of
record in Worcester, Wicomico, Somerset, Carroll, Howard,

Tax of eight
per centum
levied.

Montgomery, Frederick, Washington, Garrett and Dorches-
ter counties, shall annually pay a tax of eight per centum
upon the gross amount of interest covenanted to be paid
each year to said mortgagee or his assigns by the mortgagor,
to be collected by the proper authorities as other taxes for
county purposes in said several above specially enumerated
counties are collected. All of such taxes collected in said
several counties shall be applied exclusively therein to
county purposes, free, clear and discharged from any claim
