for the purposes for which they were intended, and said
papers, from the confused condition in which they are now
in, from the year 1851 to November 30, 1904, inclusive, are
inconvenient, and that they are the cause of great loss of
time and expense; and whereas, the said indexes and
dockets, although they have been frequently repaired and
rebound, have, in consequence of the constant use to which
they have been subjected, undergone deterioration to such an
extent that it is impracticable any longer to preserve them in
a sound condition, wherefore it is necessary that they should
be transcribed and the papers chronologically arranged and
filed according to their respective dates, from the year 1851
to November 30, 1904, inclusive,
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the register of wills for Baltimore county be and

he is hereby authorized and required to make or have made
transcripts of the indexes and dockets in his office, and have
properly arranged and filed in chronological order all papers
in his office from the year 1851 to November 30, 1904,
inclusive.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the expense incurred

by the making of said transcripts and the arrangement and
filing of said papers shall be paid out of the surplus revenue
of the said office of register of wills for Baltimore county;
and in case the surplus revenue of said office of register of
wills of Baltimore county shall not be sufficient to pay for
said work, then in that event the board of County Commis-
sioners of Baltimore county shall pay to said register of
wills for Baltimore county, out of the contingent fund of said
county such an amount as may be necessary for that pur-
pose, not exceeding one thousand dollars.
SEC. 3. Be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect from
the date of its passage.

AN ACT to repeal Chapter 411 of the Acts of 1898, which
repealed Section 181 of Article 1 of the Code of Public
Local Laws, title " Allegany County," sub-title " Justices
of the Peace and Constables," and to re-enact the same
