CHAPTER 721.
AN ACT to appropriate a sum of money to the " Winfield
Academy of Carroll County," thereby rendering said
Academy more efficient, and encouraging private indi-
viduals to support and endorse it.

WHEREAS, Many citizens of this State, and especially those
residing in the neighborhood of Winfield, in Carroll county,

have for many years maintained an academy, which has
prepared youths of both sexes, for college for business and
professional life; and
WHEREAS, The said citizens have been recently incorpora-
ted under the general laws of this State in the name of the
" Winfield Academy of Carroll County," and are now engaged
in educating and preparing youths of both sexes for business
and professional life, and are in a position to receive dona-
tions in aid and support of such purposes; therefore,
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the sum of five hundred dollars be and it is

hereby appropriated to the support of the " Winfield
Academy of Carroll County " for the fiscal year 1906, and
the like sum of five hundred dollars for the fiscal year 1907.

Appropriation.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the Treasurer of the State
shall, upon warrant of the Comptroller of the Treasury, pay
to the order of the " Winfield Academy of Carroll County"
said sums of money hereby appropriated.
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 722.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section 16
of Article 23 of the Code of Public General Laws, title
" Corporations," sub-title " Provisions for Formation of
Corporations."

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 16 of Article 23 of the Code of Public
General Laws, title "Corporations," sub-title "Provisions
for Formation of Corporations," be and the same is hereby
amended and re-enacted, so as to read as follows :
