a justice of the peace, or the Circuit Court for Charles
county, as in the case of other misdemeanors, in which
justices of the peace and the Circuit Court have concurrent
jurisdiction under the existing law; and in case the said
treasurer shall fail to collect the said money, unless it shall
be shown in his defense that the collection of the same was
through no fault or neglect on his part, he shall be similarly
fined as in the case of the County Commissioners as afore-
said, and be liable to removal from office by the said County
Commissioners upon conviction.
SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That all Acts or parts of Acts

inconsistent with the provisions of this Act are hereby
repealed, and that this Act shall take effect from and after
the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 573.
AN ACT to declare the sanction and consent of the General
Assembly of Maryland to the bequest of one thousand
dollars under the last will and testament of Maximilian
Plitt to the Trustees of Salem United Brethren Church.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the sanction and consent of the General Assembly

of Maryland be and the same is hereby declared, given and
granted to the bequest of one thousand dollars under the
last will and testament of Maximian Plitt, late of Baltimore
city, deceased, to the trustees of Salem United Brethren
Church, to be invested by them, and the income derived
therefrom to be used in defraying the current expenses of
the church.
SEC. 2. Be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

AN ACT granting to Chesapeake Land Improvement Com-
pany, a corporation, its successors and assigns, the right
to construct and maintain a wharf in the Sassafras river,
