CHAPTER 530.
AN ACT to add an additional section to Article 65 of the
Code of Public General Laws of 1904, title "Militia,"
sub-title "Rewards," to follow after Section 54, and to be
known as Section 54 A.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-

to Article 65, of the Code of Public General Laws of 1904,
title "Militia," sub-title "Rewards," to follow after Section
54, and to be designated as Section 54 A, so as to read as
follows :
54 A. In order to reward those members of the Maryland

National Guard who volunteered for service in the Spanish-
American War, the commander-in-chief shall have power
under regulations to be prescribed by him to issue medals
of appropriate designs to officers and enlisted men of the
Maryland National Guard who served in either land or naval
forces furnished by Maryland during the Spanish-American
War.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 531.
AN ACT to authorize the State Board of Education to pay
to Eliza E. Baird the pension provided for in and by Sec-
tion 53 A of Chapter 584 of the Acts of 1904, for teachers
who have served the State for twenty-five years.

WHEREAS, Eliza E. Baird, a citizen of this State, was for
twenty-four years consecutively engaged in teaching in the

service became physically disabled while in the service of
the State engaged in teaching, as aforesaid; and
