CHAPTER 619.
AN ACT to amend the charter of the Hagerstown and
Boonsboro Railway Company, a corporation duly incor-
porated under the provisions of Article 23 of the Code of
Public General Laws of Maryland, and to grant certain
additional powers to said Railway Company.

CHAP. 619.

SECTION 1. And be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That in addition to the powers and rights con-
ferred, upon the Hagerstown and Boonsboro Railway Com-
pany, under the general laws of this State authorizing the.
formation of railroad companies, the said Hagerstown and
Boonsboro Railway Company be and it is hereby authorized
and empowered to extend its lines of railway authorized by
its said charter to be constructed from Funkstown to Boons-
boro, to such other points in Washington county as the board
of directors of said railway company may determine, with the
right and power of condemnation as provided in the Code of
Public General Laws, Article 23, title "Corporations," sub-
title "Railroad Companies," and to buy, lease, sell to or con-
solidate with any other railroad or railway, and to connect or
enter into traffic agreement with any other railroad or railway.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the said railway
company, its lesses or assigns, be and they are hereby author-
ized and empowered to haul passengers, packages, parcels and
freight on said railway and its extension or connections, and
to charge such rates as compensation therefor as the board of
directors may from time to time determine.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That the board of
directors of said railway company shall have power to issue in
the name of said company bonds in such amounts as the
board of directors may deem necessary for the purposes of
said railway and its extensions, and to secure the payment of
the same by mortgage of all or any part of the property,
rights, franchises, tolls and revenues of said company, and
that the mortgage and the bonds heretofore issued be and the
same are hereby approved and confirmed, and that the con-
tracts entered into by said company with the president, man-
agers and company of the Boonsboro Turnpike Road and
with the Beaver Creek and South Mountain Turnpike Com-
pany, authorizing the construction of said railway on certain
portions of said turnpikes, be and the same are hereby
approved, ratified and confirmed.
SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of' its passage.
