CHAPTER 612.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Sections 39,
40, 41, 42, 43, 45, 46, 48, 52 and 61 of Article 43 of the
Code of Public General Laws, entitled "Health, " sub-title
"Practitioners of Medicine; " to repeal altogether Sections
49, 51 and 62 of said Article, and to add additional Sections
thereto, to be designated as Sections 40 A, 43 A, 61 A, 64
and 65.

CHAP. 612.


SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That sections 39, 40, 41, 42, 43, 45, 46, 48, 52 and
61 of Article 43 of the Code of Public General Laws, entitled
"Health, " sub-title "Practitioners of Medicine, " be and the
same are hereby repealed and re-enacted with amendments;
that sections 49, 51 and 62 of said Article be and the same
are hereby repealed altogether, and that new sections be and
the same are hereby added to said Article, to be designated,
respectively, section 40 A, to follow section 40; section 43 A,
to follow section 43; section 61 A, to follow section 61; sec-
tion 64, to follow section 63, and section 65, to follow section
64, and to read as follows:

39. All persons now practicing medicine and surgery, or
who shall hereafter begin to practice medicine and surgery in
any of their departments, except dentistry, in the State of
Maryland, shall possess the qualification required by this sub-
title of this Article.

40. From and after the first Tuesday in June, eighteen hun-
dred and ninety-two, there shall be and continue to be two
separate boards of medical examiners for the State of Mary-
land — one representing the Medical and Chirurgical Faculty of
the State of Maryland, and one representing the Maryland
State Homeopathic Medical Society of the State of Maryland.
The members of said respective boards in office at the time
when this law shall go into effect shall continue to hold and
exercise their respective offices up to the first Tuesday in June,
nineteen hundred and two. On the first Tuesday in June, nine-
teen hundred and two, said two boards of medical examiners
shall be reorganized, and thereafter said boards shall be con-
stituted as follows: Each of said boards shall consist of eight
members, who shall be selected by the Medical and Chirurgical
Faculty of the State of Maryland and the Maryland State
Homeopathic Medical Society, respectively, at the annual
meetings of said respective societies; and each appointee is
immediately after his election to be furnished with a certificate
thereof by the society electing him. Each such member of
