CHAP. 582.
Capital stock
to be taken
as security.
|
deposit of money or other valuables of any kind with said
company, the capital stock as paid in shall be taken and con-
sidered as the security required by law for the faithful per-
formance of their duties ; provided, the said Courts shall not
deem it necessary to require further security, and shall be
absolutely liable in case any default whatever; the Court, if
it deem it necessary, may, from time to time, appoint suitable
persons to investigate the affairs and management of said
company, who shall report to such Court the manner in which
such investments are made, and the security afforded to those
by or from whom its engagements are held, and the expense
of such investigation shall be defrayed by said company ; or
the Court may, if deemed necessary, examine the officers of
said company under oath or affirmation, as to the security
aforesaid.

SEC. 9. And be it further enacted, That the General
Assembly of Maryland reserves the right to repeal, alter or
amend this Act at its pleasure.
SEC. 10. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 583.
AN ACT to correct a clerical error in Chapter 716 of the
Acts of 1900, sub-title "Schools," entitled "An Act making
appropriations for the support of the State government for
the fiscal year ending on the thirtieth day of September,
nineteen hundred and two," relating to the appropriation to
Colored Schools.

Preamble.
|
WHEREAS, By paragraph sub-titled "Schools" of the
General Appropriation Act of nineteen hundred and two,
chapter 716, for the support of the State government, as the
same was in fact passed by the General Assembly, there was
appropriated the sum of one hundred and fifty thousand
dollars of the receipts from the public school tax to colored
schools, as the same was in fact passed by the General Assembly,
as will appear by reference to the journals of the House of
Delegates, pages 1468, 1561 and 1645, and by reference to the
Senate journal, pages 1175, 1191 and 1213, and by the
engrossed bill as the same was passed ; and
WHEREAS, By clerical error in transcribing said bill for the
Governor, the sum appropriated to the colored schools was
mistakingly stated to be one hundred and sixty thousand
