CHAP. 666.

Unlawful to
employ
children
under four-
teen years of
age, etc.

person or persons under fourteen years of age, unless said
child is the only support of a widowed mother, invalid father,
or is solely dependent upon such employment for self-support;
and if any such proprietor or owner of any such mill or fac-
tory, or manager, agent, foreman or other person in charge
thereof shall wilfully violate the provisions of this section, he
shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and on conviction thereof
shall be fined not less than one hundred dollars for each and
every offense so committed, and pay the cost of prosecution,
one-half to go to the informer and the other half to the
school fund of the county or city in which the offense shall
have been committed ; provided, that nothing in this section
shall apply to Frederick, Washington, Queen Anne's, Carroll,
Wicomico, Caroline, Kent, Somerset, Cecil, Calvert, St.
Mary's, Prince George's, Howard, Baltimore, Worcester,
Garrett, Talbot, Montgomery and Harford counties.

CHAPTER 567.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section 282
of Article 17 of the Code of Public Local Laws, title
"Prince 'George's County," sub-title "Roads," as the same
was amended by the Act of 1900, Chapter 346, so that the
same shall read as follows :

and re-enact

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That section 282 of Article 17 of the Code of
Public Local Laws, title "Prince George's County," sub-title
"Roads," as the same was amended by the Act of 1900,
chapter 346, be and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
so that the same shall read as follows :

282. At the general election to be held on the Tuesday next
after the first Monday in the month of November in the year
nineteen hundred and three, and at every general election
thereafter, the legally qualified voters in that portion of
Prince George's county comprised in that portion of Prince
George's county comprised in the election districts of Laurel,
Vansville, Bladensburg, Hyattsville and Kent, as said districts
now exist, and to be known as road district number one, shall
elect one County Road Commissioner, who shall be a freeholder
and resident of said road district number one, and well
fitted to have charge of the repairing and construction of
roads; and the legally qualified voters of that portion of
said county comprised in the election districts of Bowie,
Queen Anne, Marlboro, Melwood, Nottingham and Aquasco,
