CHAP. 652.

Expenses of
interment of
soldiers,
etc.,
to be borne
by State.

Maryland ; provided, that the expense of such interment in
the city of Baltimore shall not exceed in any one case more
than twenty-five dollars, and in any of the counties of the
State more than thirty-five dollars in any one case; and pro-
vided that said expense shall only be borne by the State of
Maryland in the event that such deceased soldier, sailor or
marine left no estate ; that the provisions of this Act shall
also apply to indigent soldiers, sailors and marines who served
in the Confederate armies and navy ; provided, that thirty-
five dollars ($35) be and is hereby appropriated in the case
of every indigent ex-Confederate soldier, sailor or marine for
whom the benefits of this Act may be required.

Warrant to
be issued.

SEC. 2. Be it further enacted, The Comptroller of the
Treasury be and he is authorized and directed to issue his
warrant on the Treasurer of the State to pay the expenses
hereinbefore mentioned ; that before the Comptroller shall
issue said warrant there shall be presented to him with an
itemized bill of the undertaker a certificate of death, stating
the name and age of the deceased, together with the cause of
death, if the deceased was buried in Baltimore city, and if the
deceased was buried in one of the counties of the State then a
certificate of the County Commissioner living nearest the place
where the deceased shall have lived, or the certificate of a
health officer.

When
expenses
shall not be
paid.

SEC. 3. Be it further enacted, That in no case shall the
expense of interment be paid where the deceased is buried in
a cemetery or county plot used exclusively for the interment
of paupers or public charges.

Appropria-
tion.

SEC. 4. Be it further enacted, That the sum of fifteen
hundred dollars, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is
hereby appropriated for the fiscal year 1902, and the like sum
of fifteen hundred dollars, or so much thereof as may be
necessary, for the fiscal year of 1903, for the objects above
mentioned.

CHAPTER 553.

AN ACT to repeal Chapter 369 of the Acts of 1900, entitled
an Act to add an additional Section to Article 13 of the
Code of Public Local Laws, title "Harford County," sub-
title "Fish," to immediately follow Section 114, to be
known as Section 114 A.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That chapter 369 of the Acts of 1900, entitled, an
